Even though winter sun is a hot commodity right now, that doesn’t mean you can’t get a head start on spring to beat the crowds and score the best deals.

It’s never too early to plan a trip, even an easy getaway like Cancun — and it’s about to become even easier for 3 U.S. cities.

Our friends at The Cancun Sun revealed Frontier is rolling out the red carpet (or maybe a Goodwill rug with their paper-thin budget) for a trio of popular airports next year.

Say what you want about the economy, whether it be high gas prices where I live or well-noted inflation across the board, but travelers are always looking for ways to save a pretty penny.

In this case, Frontier makes it almost impossible to pass up with promotional fares under $100 to Americans’ favorite paradise.

Set to launch next spring, the following 3 cities are set to welcome brand new nonstop flights to Cancun.

Here is everything travelers need to know, starting with the soonest flight to launch:

New Flights From NC: Charlotte (CLT) & Raleigh-Durham (RDU)

If you’re from North Carolina, give yourself a pat on the back because you’re the lucky winner of 2 new flights to Mexico’s most renowned beach getaway.

No matter if you live north, south, or central, you’ll be able to reach either Charlotte or Raleigh for a fun spring vacay.

Let’s start with the former — Charlotte is set to welcome Frontier’s first new flight Cancun:

  • Begins March 6, 2026
  • Scheduled 3x per week
  • Promo fares offered from $99 one-way

Next up is Raleigh, and this is big news for their highly underrated city as Frontier nemesis Avelo pulled the plug on some exciting international routes initially announced for 2026.

However, this will be the only low-cost route to Cancun from RDU:

  • Begins March 7, 2026
  • Scheduled for weekly service
  • Promo fares offered from $99 one-way

Though, both Breeze and aforementioned Avelo will still offer seasonal flights to Punta Cana too.

New Flight From Chicago (MDW)

As Chicagoans begin to recover from one of America’s most brutally cold winter settings, why not celebrate spring with a trip to Cancun?

While much of the country begins to see more sunshine, Chicago still falls behind with averages in the 40s, while Cancun sees constant sunshine in the 80s most days.

Frontier’s newest Cancun flight from the Midwest will depart from the Windy City’s secondary airport Midway (MDW):

  • Begins March 7, 2026
  • Scheduled for weekly service
  • Promo fares from $99 one-way

Why Springtime Is A Great Time To Vacation In Cancun

Look, if we’re being honest, Cancun is a tough place to avoid the crowds, given its gargantuan popularity.

The downside of visiting in spring is the “untz-untzing” spring breakers invading your peaceful oasis.

However, there are certainly pockets to avoid the more obnoxious crowd. Other than spotting senseless neon attire and venturing the opposite direction, we at Travel Off Path recommend going beyond the Hotel Zone and buzzing downtown to more idyllic beach spots, such as Akumal.

That being said, if you time it right, you can still beat the typical spring break crowds if you book early March or mid-to-late April.

Better yet, these new flights line up seamlessly for the most pristine beach conditions Cancun has to offer since the annual seaweed (sargassum) invasion usually takes place later in spring and summer.

Frontier’s Fine Print (Book Your Cheap Ticker ASAP!)

Some deals sound too good to be true, right? Well, not if you read the (very boring) fine print.

Don’t worry — we’ve done the job for you.

The promo window is limited. Tickets at the lowest promotional fares must be purchased by December 10, 2025, and only apply for select dates from March 6 to April 13, 2026 on certain days of the week.

Frontier notes that flight frequencies and schedules can change at any time, so it’s best to double-check exact times and days on the airline’s website before locking official plans.
